A few weeks after they brutally murdered a Christian family in the Ikorodu area of the Lagos State, one of the suspects has been arrested by the police.
The Lagos State Police Command says it has arrested one of the suspected killers of a family comprising the father, mother and their only child in Ibeshe Titun, in the Ikorodu area of the state.
Punch reports that the arrest of the suspect was made possible by policemen from the Ipakodo Division on Tuesday, April 2, 2017, a few weeks after the family who were staunch members of the Deeper Christian Life Church were murdered in their house.
The sad incidence which saw the whole family of Lucky Ebhodaghe, his wife Margaret and their son, Jonathan who was writing his West African Secondary School Certificate Examination, were slaughtered in their home on Monday, April 17, 2017, by the assailants suspected to be members of the Badoo Cult group that has been terrorising the Ikorodu area for many years.
The area was thrown into confusion and at their burial on Wednesday, April 19, many residents had rained curses on the killers and urged the police to make sure they are apprehended.
A resident who confirmed the arrest of the suspect said he was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday and had allegedly confessed to being part of the gang that murdered the family.
“The man was arrested this morning (Tuesday) and he confessed to being a member of the gang that attacked and killed members of the family.
He was beaten to a pulp by an angry mob as he also mentioned the names of their sponsors. We are hoping that he would not be set free.”
The victims were said to have been machete to death while Margaret was said to have been raped by the assailants in a manner which has become their modus operandi.
