Spurred by the need to give Nigerian car dealers a stronger grasp of selling their cars online without getting stuck on the wrong side of modern advertising and marketing, the CEO, Cheki Nigeria, Gbenro Dara has called on new and existing car dealers to leverage on the experience of professionals who have a deeper understanding of the digital space of car marketing.
"There is a need for car dealers in Nigeria to understand that despite the blessings of modern advertising and marketing of cars, which has made it easier and faster to sell them, there are complexities that they have to deal with and this is where experts come in," Dara explained.
According to Dara, the sensitive nature of this concern is what has given birth to the Cheki Dealer Conference, which has been scheduled for August 31, 2017, at the Germaine Auto Centre, 4th Roundabout in Lekki.
The event, which will witness a convergence of newcomers and experts in the Nigerian automobile will see industry experts and seasoned professionals share insight into the existing sales metrics, the challenges and how automobile dealers can efficiently optimise sales.
"More and more businesses are moving online. However, despite the wealth of benefits car dealers enjoy from taking the marketing of their cars online, there are still several red flags that dealers need to know about and structure their businesses to overcome. For instance, the internet and mobile penetration continue to grow at a staggering rate," Dara noted.
Car dealers have to begin to pay attention to trends, technology and how these changes will impact the business of selling cars in Africa's most populous nation.
According to the Campaign Manager, Cheki, Ibironke Wickliffe, there are peculiar challenges for car dealers in Nigeria. "The business is changing and the earlier they are able to tap into these changes and rethink how the business is done, the better for them."
She made reference to the report by Stanford University economist Tony Seba, which was titled 'Rethinking Transportation 2020-2030.' She pointed out that there is so much that people need to start thinking about.
"What the cost curve says is that by 2025 all new vehicles will be electric, all new buses, all new cars, all new tractors, all new vans, anything that moves on wheels will be electric globally.
"This is something dealers have to start thinking about. The future isn't as far off as it appears to be. Buyers are way smarter than they were in the past.
"They now do all their research online via blogs, forums, websites and the social media. The car shopping experience is beginning to look like what obtains in western markets."
The Cheki Dealer Conference is designed to educate and expose Nigerian car dealers to the power of optimising the sale of cars via digital marketing and other innovative online platforms.
