A bride-to-be has been arrested 24 hours to her wedding during a cult initiation which she attended with another man.
Operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad [FSARS], attached to the Ogun State Police Command, have arrested a 31-year-old woman, Bose Christopher, alongside another boyfriend during a cult initiation 24 hours to her wedding.
The State Police Public Relations Officer [PPRO], ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a statement, said Christopher was arrested during a raid at a hotel following a tip-off that some cult members had gathered there for an initiation ceremony.
It turned out that while Christopher's fiance and his family were preparing for their wedding the next day, she had gone to the cult initiation with another of her boyfriend and was arrested in the process with other suspected cult members.
Christopher who spoke to journalists at the State Police Headquarters at Eleweran in Abeokuta, denied being a cult member, saying she only went to the initiation on the invitation of the boyfriend.
“It is true I went with my boyfriend to the party and it is also true that my wedding introduction was scheduled to hold the following day I went to the ceremony with my other boyfriend.
I am not a cult member. I met him [boyfriend] about two weeks ago and I never knew he is a cult member. He just called me after I closed from the shop, to join him at the party,” she said.
Christopher who claimed to be an apprentice fashion designer revealed that her husband-to-be had since stopped communicating with her and has called off the wedding since her arrest by the police.
